It's not wrong, it can just be factored further. Typically they want you to "fully factor", which means that if anything can be factored more, you should do so.

y^2 + 2y -3

= y^2 - y + 3y - 3

= (y+3)(y-1)

Now the same thing once again, but the coefficients will be 1, 2x and -3x^2 respectively for y^2, y and 1
