Do you know the quadratic formula? Rearrange this to
4x\^2 - 12x - 7 = 0
and apply it. Or complete the square. Or factorize.

(2x + 1)(2x + 7) = 4x^2 + 14x + 2x + 7 ... nope
(2x – 1)(2x + 7) = 4x^2 + 14x – 2x – 7 ... nope
