This happens because you are rounding results.
There will be a range of numbers that will round to e.g. 343.00
These are 342.995 to 343.00499...
If you plug these in, you will get a range just slightly larger than you found by trial and error.

I did this all wrong but got the right answer? Took half of .075, used d=(1+i)/i to get discount rate, and just added. Decimal was off, but i got the numbers right. Luck?
