Did it ever happened with you guys that you spent absurdly long time on simplifying an equation only to come up with something like 2=1?

It’s mostly intuition and critical thinking. Knowing how to factor and modify equations is important but with deductive reasoning one can make logical conclusions. There’s no universal shortcut though so it’s dependent on what you’re doing.
