I was wondering if any Biostatisticians on here could offer me some guidance as far as my next steps educationally. I know I want to get my MS in Biostatistics, but I still need to choose and complete my undergraduate program. I was previously in a program to become a nurse and have had changed my mind and want to focus more on math and stats. That being said, I have had Calc I and Intro to Stats, and realize I need to take a lot more math. Should I be looking at a mathematics undergrad degree, or statistics?

My other issue I have been running into is that I need classes to be primarily online. I will have to move in 3 years due to a military contract, and I am tired of transferring schools. Are there any good online mathematics or other applicable undergrad degrees that anyone can recommend? I have seen some biochemistry degrees and things like that, but with the heavy math concentration I am not sure if those are the right choice for me.

Thank you.

You will also need to take up through multivariable calculus and linear algebra. Ideally, you would also take a probability class, a class on statistical inference, and real analysis. The more math and stats the better, really.

Your actual major matters much less than your coursework, but math and stats majors are standard, and there is a smaller subset of folks who majored in bio, but had the requisite math background.

Thanks. I need to get a full undergrad degree. I don’t understand why it’s so hard to find one online…I have only found 1 online BS in Statistics and so far it doesn’t look like it’s approved by my Veterans benefits service. But I’ve emailed them to find out why.
Even just undergrad math degrees have been hard to find.
