Switching industries in Germany

Question

If you start your career in a retail company, can you still change industries later on without any problems? For example, is it possible to move to Klarna, Amazon, Blinklist or Delivery Hero after 2-3 years or do they prefer to hire people who have worked in the same industry or another Tech company?  

Some tasks I would do in the retail company:

1. Conducting A/B tests (Website, App and Stores)

2. Regression and cluster analyses

3. Exploratory analyses

As long as you’re skilled, have a strong portfolio, and do well in the interview process, you shouldn’t have too much of a problem switching industries.

It definitely helps having industry experience, but companies are looking for skilled adaptable people above all else.
