Are the calculus textbook editions different?

Hello, my teacher is asking us to use Early Transcendentals 8th edition for my Calculus 2 class, but I found the 6th edition online for free. Does anyone know if these books are any different?

They usually change the homework numbers to force you to get the new one. Just check them with a classmate.
