Mathematics research in Japan

Hello, I'm not from Japan but have lived here in the past and speak the language fluently, I was curious as to whether there are any universities (daiigaku) here that have strong maths departments particularly for research? as I would be interested in living here in the future thankyou

Also not from Japan, but I did spend a month at Kobe University during my PhD. There are definitely some very strong research universities throughout Japan. Obviously, there's a big community in Tokyo and likewise at RIMS in Kyoto, but there are many others.

As far as I know the University of Kyoto is world renowned in the math department, my PhD supervisor teaches there now, and apparently it was a massive honor for him to be offered a position there, and you don't even apply, the university seeks you out based on your research history.
