So from the article it notes that some people postulate that we may live in more than just the usual three spatial dimensions and if we ever observe a non-spherical black hole (especially from small experimental ones that we create?) then that would prove it. But it's 100% theoretical.

TL;DR: this may be interesting math but may very well not apply to our universe at all unless we actually live in more than 3 spatial dimensions.

Something i always wondered was whether the spin of the black hole could make it more of an ellipsoid than a sphere.

And with enough spin even a ring.

Would that be possible?
