Trying to learn a bit of real analysis before going into it next semester . I have tabs open for Ross text, understanding analysis by abbot. It’s definitely a grind. Sad part is even though I do the problems in these books, they are considered “simple” compared to something like rudin which I don’t feel ready for yet. It’s hard to celebrate understanding a topic in these books when some person will say “oh well it’s not a rudin or Spivak book problem so how much are you really learning”.

Primitive roots modulo p and n, as well as their applications to the orders of elements in the cyclic group of units over the residue systems over integers modulo p and n. All this is prerequisite to Quadratic Reciprocity, so I should be doing that rather soon.

I mostly have been training a lot for the IMO (Ladies, there is only one of me). Mostly just been grinding FE’s which is my worst subject.

I am revising for my linear PDEs exam which is a week on Wednesday. Should be okay, apart from the fact that *everything* about separation of variables has leaked out of my head since I last saw it. I really hope my notes are up to scratch, otherwise I'm buggered.

I'm also trying to put together a study group for extracurricular mathematics, and I can only describe my efforts thus far as "ill-fated". I hate everyone on my course in my year, and I don't know how to get in touch with anyone in any of the other years. In the end, I emailed my director of studies (who I get on with) to ask if he knew anyone who would be interested, because another dimension to it is that most people I know who study maths don't like it.

Studying for my qualifying exams (in august). Right now I'm reviewing complex analysis, which is probably my weakest subject. Ahlfors has good problems though!
