When I watched the videos, I would transcribe everything on the screen to make sure I was staying engaged.

I only used the videos when I was mentally exhausted from reading or reciting note cards.  Or maybe at the gym on the elliptical.  Basically a way to get just a little extra "studying" in.

The focus should be on note cards, detailed and condensed study manuals.

The TIA videos were mainly used as a way of adding variety to my studying. I took GH exams, so my main study tool was notecards with lists. After a while, the monotony will get to you, so rather than not study I would watch videos. Not as effective, but watching videos was better than nothing.

I got through all 3 FSA exams using PAK manual, no video or flash cards, first try.

TIA was never my primary source - I wrote ILA track and found PAK to be the best, and definitely better than TIA for at least one of my exams. This is really just a matter of style - I'm much like you where I like having something to read. I even take it one step further where I \*had\* to have a printed manual, the electronic ones didn't work well for me
