I found the range of a to be(-2, 4) and made two quadratic equations with substituting both the end values of a and found the solution for x respectively and it's wrong, can someone correct me?

My guess is if you want the y of the intersections to be positive, then the y of both functions there must be positive. Since f is still movable, use g to fill in M and N.

g(x) = 4 - x^2 > 0
